A councillor's grant is making a splash after he donated cash to revamp Shenley Pond.
The £1,400 donated by Councillor John Usher will pay for new benches around the pond, situated near Cowley Hill.
Redevelopment work began earlier this year, with workers dredging and de-stilting the historic landmark.
The pond dates back to Roman times, but in the 18th century the cage was built beside the pond, used as a holding cell for prisoners on their way to court in Barnet or St Albans.
