Celebrations were held to mark the name change of a community shop yesterday.
The Big Local Community Shop, in Allum Lane, won a £1million lottery grant last year to launch a new project called The Big Local in the Leeming and Aycliffe areas. It also features a TimeBank.
The shop, run by Community Action Hertsmere, currently offers free computer training, a job club and a citizens' advice bureau.
But under the new project it will now become an information hub, giving people the chance to pitch ideas to enhance quality of life.
The partnership chair, Donna Inwood, welcomed everyone to the shop and thanked Community Action Hertsmere for its support so far.
Mayor of Borehamwood, Charles Kelly, cut the ribbon and spoke about the benefits of the project.
Shanie Hutton, a project worker at the shop, said: “This marks the start of something big, I am looking forward to seeing all the great work we can start doing.”
