Confidential documents that turned up in a Borehamwood park are a “mystery”, according to the ex-director of the firm that went into liquidation six years ago.

Hundreds of payslips, Inland Revenue tax forms, phone bills, pension slips and invoices dated between 2004 and 2009 were found dumped at Scratchwood Open Space, Barnet, this morning.

All the documents seem to be linked to SGM Superior Guard Management, which was liquidated in 2006.

Stephen Gary Miller, the director of the firm, said the documents should have been collected by the liquidator and disposed of accordingly.

He said: “I just haven’t got a clue how they turned up six years on. It’s a mystery. We are no longer trading, so anything that was found has nothing to do with me anymore.

“I didn’t get rid of anything that was in the offices, that was all down to the liquidator.”

The documents found also contain personal details from bank account numbers to national insurance details.

Also amid the refuse, which has been dumped in three instalments, is a bath, carpet, floorboard pieces, door keys, broken wine glasses and Christmas decorations.

The files should have gone to the liquidators, Stewart Bennett and James Bradney, who worked for Berg Kaprow Lewis, in Ballards Lane, Finchley.

But BKL sold off their insolvency team in 2009 to Bridge Business Recovery, who then went into administration last year.

All their documents were transferred to KPMG, and the Borehamwood and Elstree Times is awaiting comment from them.
