Learner freed from car after driving lesson crash
A learner driver had to be freed from her car when it was involved in a heavy collision during her lesson in Borehamwood this morning.
The woman, believed to be in her 20s, was behind the wheel of a silver Suzuki Swift when it was involved in a crash with a blue Renault Clio in Elstree Way, at the junction with Warwick Road, at 10.15am.
The crash occurred just a few hundred metres from the Borehamwood driving test centre in Warwick Road.
Firefighters used a hydraulic jack to prize open the car door and rescue the young learner, while cutting equipment was also used to free the driver of the Clio.
Both drivers were taken to Barnet Hospital and the driving instructor, who got out of the car unaided, went with them as a precaution.
The London Ambulance Service said both drivers suffered minor injuries.
Police also attended the scene and officers closed off Elstree Way in both directions between the junction with Warwick Road and the Manor Way Roundabout.
The cordon was lifted at 11.20am once the scene was cleared.
