Police are issuing crime prevention advice following a spate of burglaries in Hertsmere.
Building equipment, a car, jewellery, cash and scrap metal have been stolen from homes and building sites across the borough since Sunday, June 17.
Dean Patient, Hertsmere chief inspector, said: “While these incidents are being thoroughly investigated by my officers, I’d like to take this opportunity to remind people to take extra precautions to protect their property.
“Burglars want to avoid confrontation so will target properties when the residents are out, such as during the day or in the afternoon during the school run.
“I’d urge people to double lock their UPVC doors by lifting the handle and locking it, and close all windows before leaving, even if you’re just popping out for a few minutes.
“I’d also ask people to be vigilant and call police immediately via 999 if they witness any suspicious behaviour around a property.”
