Hertfordshire will receive an extra £5.2million from the Government to help revive the local economy.
The county's Local Enterprise Partnership was set to receive just under £11m from the Growing Places Fund, but this has now increased to £16.2m.
The move comes after the recent coalition budget increased the fund by an additional £270m, to be shared between all LEPs in the country.
The fund is intended to kickstart the local economy by supporting infrastructure projects that need additional funding to get off the ground.
This could include the creation of new jobs and the opening up of new areas for development, such as the creation of new link roads.
The Hertfordshire LEP invited all district and borough councils in the county to submit proposals for projects that needed additional investment and received 15 applications.
John Gourd, chairman of the Hertfordshire LEP, said: "This is fantastic news for Hertfordshire.
"Having this additional funding will allow us to increase our support to projects that will make significant improvements to infrastructure in the county."
