The family of a man who died after being knocked off his motorbike on Tuesday have said he will never be forgotten.

Terry Smith, 40, from Borehamwood, was knocked off his bike outside Elstree and Borehamwood Train Station at 4.40pm on Tuesday.

In a statement released by police, Mr Smith’s family said: “Terry was a loving son, husband and the best father, brother and uncle ever. He will always be missed and never forgotten and will always live on in our hearts.”

Mr Smith, who worked for MGM Cars, in Elstree Studios, was travelling along Station Road when he collided with a taxi travelling in the opposite direction.

Essex Air Ambulance was called to the scene but was turned back as it was not required and Mr Smith was taken to by ambulance in a serious condition to Watford General Hospital where he later died.

Floral tributes have been placed at the site where the collision took place, with messages from friends and colleagues.

One card read: “You will be missed more than you know. Our hearts go out to your friends and family. Much love, Elstree Studios.”

Jack Shanks, who lives in Station Road and saw the results of collision, said: “It was awful. Accidents like this shouldn’t happen on a quiet road like this, it’s a little road with just flats and two businesses on it.”

Police are currently are asking people who saw the collision or the two vehicles before the incident to get in contact.
