A fast food restaurant has now reopened after a raid by the UK Border Agency closed it this morning.
Officers entered McDonald’s, in Shenley Road, Borehamwood, just after 10.20am and questioned staff, closing the branch during until just before 1pm.
A spokesman for the UK Border Agency said: “At the moment we can confirm we are conducting an operation targeting suspected illegal workers at the Borehamwood McDonald’s.”
People were left queuing up in their cars wanting to use the drive through at the branch, but were turned away while interviews were conducted inside.
The spokesman added the operation was intelligence led and it could take some time as there may be follow up house searches if evidence of people working illegally is found.
A spokeswoman from McDonald's said: "McDonald’s can confirm that the UK Border Agency is currently conducting an investigation regarding our Borehamwood restaurant.
"McDonald’s is fully cooperating with UKBA as they carry out this investigation."
