Shoppers have said they will be sorry to see a branch of a fashion retailer go, after it was announced it will be closing.
The branch of Bon Marche, in Shenley Road, Borehamwood, will soon be closing, despite the chain being bought out of administration last month.
Sheila Phillips, 73, from Shenley said: “It’s a shame to see it go really; we’re in there every time we come to visit Borehamwood, but now we won’t have anywhere to shop.
“For women of a certain age it’s a fashionable shop and now we don’t have anywhere near to us which we can use.
“It’s really sad and it’s a bit of a blow to the high street.”
Rose Welton, 75, from Borehamwood said: “It’s a real shame its closing and now there’s nothing here for us.
“The high street’s got quite a few empty shops and with this one going it’s turning into a ghost town.
“There’s nothing nearby for people who find it hard to get out and about, to get to Brent Cross or Watford it’s a nightmare. There needs to be something nearby and convenient for people.”
Josie Tansey, 66, from Borehamwood said: “I’m really sorry to see it go. My husband and I come to the shop at least twice a week and we’ll miss it.
“There are quite a few older ladies in Borehamwood and now they don’t have anywhere where they can shop near.
“The high street is going downhill again and a lot of people will be sad to see it go.”
A spokesperson from Bon Marche said there is no set closing date for the store and the branch is closing due to a decline in customers in the current economic climate.
