A woman from Shenley will be tackling the 1037 stairs of the Gherkin building in central London to raise awareness for a children’s charity.
Edwina Bogush, 44, Edgbaston Drive, Shenley, and her colleague Claudio Merkier, who both work in Borehamwood, will both be taking on the challenge for the charity ChildLine.
The Step Change challenge will have teams, individuals and families all tackle the 38 flights of stairs, racing to the top of the building.
Mrs Bogush, who works as a podiatrist, said: “I just really want to raise awareness of a great charity and the work they do helping children.
“It’s sad that in this day and age there are still children being abused and I’m really passionate about supporting children’s charities devoted to protecting children.”
It is hoped the event, taking place on March 4, will raise up to £200,000 for the charity, which provides a free and confidential counselling for children and young people.
People can still enter the race and for more information on how to take part, go to www.nspcc.org.uk/stepchange.
