THE new operators of Aldenham Country Park will present their vision for the future of the park at a public meeting in Elstree next month.

Tim Waygood and Robert Marsden, who run a farm in Stevenage, were chosen as the new managers after Hertfordshire County Council announced a full funding cut for the facility last year.

The pair, who should take control of the park at the start of 2012, will join council officers to answer questions from the public.

When Mr Waygood spoke to The Borehamwood & Elstree Times in the summer, he suggested turning part of the site into a working farm.

He spoke of reconnecting the community with the land through volunteer work, educational programmes and micro-enterprises with local people to make produce such as honey or jam.

Mr Waygood said: “It's all about producing a variety of high quality food for local people, but the variety also enables it to be a visitor attraction and a place for education, a place for young people to come and volunteer and learn.”

Mr Waygood and Mr Marsden, of Renaissance Farming, will speak at Allum Hall, in Allum Lane, on Wednesday, November 30, at 8pm.

The meeting is hosted by the Friends of Aldenham Country Park charity, which had hoped to enter a bid to run the park but failed to raise the £150k needed.

The group, which comprises local people and councillors, will work closely with the new managers.
