EXPENSIVE power tools and building materials were stolen from two houses being renovated in Radlett.

The thefts happened in Oakridge Avenue, between 4.30pm on Wednesday, October 12, and 8.15am on Thursday, October 13.

In the first burglary, a boarded-up door was forced open before cordless drills, an angle-grinder and blade, power saw and lengths of copper tubing were stolen.

In the second incident, Dewalt drills and a Hitachi cordless drill were taken.

Investigating officer, PC Paul Francis, said: “I would like to remind residents to ensure their properties are secure at all times, particularly if they are having renovation work done. Also, if you see any suspicious activity in your neighbourhood, please always report it to us.

“The combination of high-value power tools and renovation materials like copper piping left insecurely in homes which are often empty while being renovated is an open invitation for burglars. We are urging residents and building workers not to make themselves easy targets in this way.”

He added: “These burglaries above may be linked, so I would also like to encourage anyone if they have any information around them to come forward.

“Perhaps you saw some suspicious activity in the area at the time of the crime. Or perhaps you have seen these tools for sale, many of which will be marked with the owner’s initials of ‘MFC’. If so, please contact me.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Francis via the non-emergency number 101.
