A NEW community transport scheme has launched in Hertsmere thanks to a £30,000 grant from banking group Lloyds TSB.
The money was donated to Hertsmere Community Transport to help less mobile residents take part in community activities over the next two years.
Chief Officer of Hertsmere Community Transport, Ann Donato, said: “With this grant we will be able to start a new project called Ring and Ride.
“The emphasis will be on providing a transport service for people who cannot use public transport who want to attend leisure activities or short courses such as chair based exercise classes or computer courses.
“Our Community Car Scheme already takes people to health appointments and our Shopper Scheme takes people to their local supermarket and this new grant will enable Hertsmere Community Transport to deliver another door to door transport service which will concentrate on journeys within the local community.”
