LABOUR have taken an extra seat on Hertsmere Council by defeating a Tory incumbent in Borehamwood.
Cllr Richard Butler has been elected to represent Borehamwood Kenilworth ward after defeating Conservative Penny Swallow by more than 200 votes.
His father, Councillor Ernie Butler, fought off a challenge from Rabbi Alan Plancey to retain his Borehamwood Cowley Hill seat, and means Labour will now have four seats on the council.
The Conservatives have held on to seats in Aldenham, Elstree, and Potters Bar, and have wiped the Lib Dems off the council by defeating them twice in Bushey.
The results of the elections, for thirteen seats on the council, mean Conservative dominance continues, but Labour will have one extra voice in their group.
