HERTFORDSHIRE County Council has identified areas in which it can save up to £3 million, after being told to cut back on £150 million before 2014.
The amount of office space has already been reduced, saving on maintenance and running costs.
The council is now looking at whether money could be made selling or renting unneeded property, and whether office space and vehicles could be shared with other public sector organisations.
Other ideas include increases teleconferencing, electronic storage, to reduce office space needed for storing paperwork, and making do with computers for an extra year before replacing them.
Frances Button, executive member for business transformation, said Hertfordshire was expecting to make savings of £150 million over the next three years.
She added: “It's vital that we look at every element of our organisation to see where we can be more efficient, both in the way we deliver services and the money we spend.”
