THE MAN arrested for killing a Borehamwood pensioner has pleaded guilty to murder and robbery at a hearing this morning.
Marcio Reis De Sa Barros, 30, from Brook Road, was charged with murdering of 94-year-old William Humphrey, also from Brook Road, and eight robberies.
War veteran Mr Humphrey, known as Bill, was stabbed several times at his home on Tuesday, February 2. Sa Barros reversed his plea after initially pleading not guilty in an earlier hearing in April at St Albans Magistrates Court.
This morning he sat in the dock clutching a white cross around his neck before pleading guilty to murder and robbery of a camera, television and cash from Mr Humphrey’s home.
Members of Mr Humphrey’s family appeared relieved as they sat in court awaiting what was supposed to be day one of Sa Barros’s trial.
Judge Stephen Gullick said he would sentence Sa Barros on Thursday morning.
