SCAFFOLDING collapsed on a van at a housing estate in Borehamwood yesterday afternoon.
The scaffolding fell at York House, in Stratfield Road, at around 3pm.
Work is being done to re-vamp the housing estate by housing association William Sutton who has confirmed this afternoon nobody was hurt and an internal investigation is underway.
A resident, who wished to not be named, said: “I was just going to Aberford Park when I saw what happened.
“It’s a shambles and just made me think of what could have happened. They have been revamping the estate for a while, which is good, but this is terrible.
“I have a child and I thought what would happen if she was walking near the scaffolding. They need to be more careful.”
Brian Conbeer, head of housing East for Affinity Sutton, said: "I would like to reassure residents and the wider community that no-one was hurt in this accident and that every precaution has been taken to make this site safe.
“Immediately following the incident yesterday afternoon, the area was cordoned off while our contractors, Cosmur, dismantled the damaged scaffold in a controlled manner.
"All necessary precautions were taken to ensure there was no further risk of injury. We are taking the matter extremely seriously and an investigation is already underway to establish what happened and ensure future safety.
"We will be keeping residents closely informed and work has currently been suspended on that section of scaffold while we complete our investigations.”
