PUPILS at a school in Shenley met football fan and children's author Tom Palmer last week.
The event was part of book week at Manor Lodge School, in Rectory Lane.
Mr Palmer has written books including a detective series called Football Detective and also Football Academy.
Mr Palmer, a Leeds United football fan, brought an inflatable goal to the school to play with the children.
Librarian Rachel Johnston said: “We’ve had a wonderful book week. The whole school was involved in sharing stories, for example by older children reading with younger classes to be their reading buddies, or dressing up as their favourite story character.
“Tom Palmer came to the school on Tuesday and was interviewed by budding reporters from Year 5. Even our dinner ladies served up a magical school lunch dressed up as fairy godmothers from Cinderella.”
