Web film in post production at Elstree Studios

POST-PRODUCTION on a pioneering web film is taking place at Elstree Studios this week.

Girl Number 9 at the studios, in Shenley Road, by production company Baker Coogan and written by Dr Who scriptwriter James Moran.

The film is a web-based thriller starring BBC drama Torchwood's Gareth David-Lloyd and ex-EastEnders actors Tracy-Ann Oberman and Joe Absolom.

It was made by production company Baker Coogan, who are based on site at Elstree Studios, in Shenley Road, and directed by Dan Turner and James Moran.

Comprising six five-minute episodes, Girl Number 9 sees Mr David-Lloyd playing Detective Matheson leading a team investigating Vincent Boylan (Absolom) who has been arrested on suspicion of murdering seven girls.

Mr Turner, who is based at Elstree Studios, said: “We chose to shoot at Elstree Film Studios because of the excellent facilities and the willingness to provide co-operation and support at every level.

"Girl Number 9 would never have been possible without the brilliant help and dedication of the studio. They really understood we were doing something new and innovative, and gave us their full backing. It's more of family at Elstree than just a studio.”

Last week a number of Hollywood production executives were given a VIP tour and lunch at the studios by managing director Roger Morris.

The executives were from production companies such as Fox, HBO, Dreamworks, Disney, Spyglass, Paramount and Overture. They had the opportunity to meet with some of Elstree Studios media production village tenants which included Baker Coogan.

The film will be aired online on October 30 at 9pm. For more information log on to www.canyousaveher.com
