Families Day ends two weeks of events for the Civic Festival

HUNDREDS of people enjoyed a range of activities and shows at the Civic Festival’s Families Day event on Saturday.

Dozens of stalls were set up in Meadow Park and there were displays put on by gymnasts, circus performers and dance groups.

The day at the park, in Broughinge Road, ended two weeks of events organised by the Elstree & Borehamwood Town Council.

The day included a Harry Potter roadshow, K's School of Dance display, a circus and children's fun fair.

In March, Borehamwood resident Ben Simon was employed by Elstree & Borehamwood Town Council as acting arts and entertainments advisor to organise this year’s Civic Festival celebrations.

He said: “It has been a fantastic few weeks. Families Day was a wonderful event, as it always is, and everyone had fun with all the activities going on then.

“I have to say my favourite part of the two weeks was the Elstree Film Evening. It was a challenge trying to get everything ready for the festival in two and a half months, but the film evening was a daunting task.

“It was great to have Richard Pryke, with the Oscar he received for Slumdog Millionaire, and his family there.

“It was a lovely was to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film night with all the old stars of Elstree.

“I’m really glad to have had the opportunity to work to organise the festival this year and have lots of ideas for next year.”
