A CHARITY that supports people with Parkinson's has been presented with a cheque for £400 following a supermarket vote.
The West Hertfordshire Branch of the Parkinson’s Disease Society received the cash following a April's Community Matters vote at the Waitrose supermarket, in Northwood.
The scheme is run in all Waitrose branches to give away £1,000 to local charities or good causes every month.
Customers are given a green token at the end of the checkout, which they then use to vote for the charity they would like to support.
After accepting the cheque for £430, Mike Peaker, chairman of the branch, said: “This generous donation will enable us to support people with Parkinson’s and their carers, and help them to enjoy a better quality of life. We are most grateful.”
