More than 25 people attended the first meeting of a new group hoping to set up a radio station in Borehamwood.

The meeting was held at the Three Ways Community Centre in Arundel Drive, Borehamwood, on Wednesday.

The station is being supported by organisations including Hertfordshire Constabulary, Elstree Studios, Oaklands College and Hertsmere Leisure.

When launched the station aims to allow people from the area to be involved in broadcasting a mixture of news, talk and music to the town.

Project organiser Oliver Benson said: “I really didn’t know what to expect, so it was great when people just kept walking through the door.

“We had a great first meeting and it really feels like we’ve got the support of a wide range of groups and individuals from across the town.

"There’s a real feeling that this is something we’re going to be able to do.

“The numbers are even higher because there were lots of people who wanted to attend but had other commitments that night.

"I think we’ve already got nearly 50 people interested in the project.”

Another meeting will be held in six to eight weeks time.

More details including how to get involved are available on the project’s website borehamwood.fm.
