A former Borehamwood business man hopes to appeal a judge's decision not to award him damages, after he was wrongly accused of child pornography offences.

Jeremy Clifford, 49, who ran UK Professional Video, in Shenley Road, was charged in July 2004 by Hertfordshire Constabulary of possessing and making indecent photographs of children. He was cleared of the charges in April 2005.

On Thursday last week, Mr Clifford, of Louvain, Watford, failed in his High Court bid to claim damages from the police, who he accused of malicious prosecution and misfeasance (misuse of power) in public office.

Andre Clovis, of Tuckers Solicitors, said: “We are hopeful an appeal will be proceeding. For us the decision that was reached was a bit of a surprise given the evidence during the trial.”

Hertfordshire Constabulary refused to comment on the judgement.
