Guitar amplifiers with a total estimated value of more than £60,000 were stolen from a Borehamwood manufacturer on Saturday.
A reward of £5,000 has been offered by The Orange Music Electronic Company, based in Glenhaven Avenue, to recover the 141 Orange Tiny Terror Combo amps.
Musicians such as Madonna, Led Zeppelin, Prince and the Kaiser Chiefs use the product, which was launched at the Frankfurt music exhibition earlier this year.
This comes following the success of the amp’s predecessor, the Tiny Terror, which sold more than 30,000 units in two years. The stolen machines were part of the first ever shipment into the UK.
The combination amp and speaker has a value of £439 and was stolen from a temperature controlled, sealed, 40ft container.
Hertfordshire Constabulary confirmed this week that the theft occurred between 7.00pm on Saturday, August 16, and 10.00am on Sunday, August 17.
The company was previously based in Denmark and moved to Borehamwood in 2003. It won the Queens Award for Enterprise in International Trade in 2006 and is at present in the process of moving to larger premises in Ripon Way, Borehamwood.
Managing director Damon Waller said: “The amps were in a very secure place. The people who took them must have been here for at least three or four hours and must have also been very loud so somebody will have seen or heard them at some point. This is the first delivery into the UK so there is a limited availability. If they are sold anywhere then this is more than likely to be our product so it should be reported to the police immediately.”
A Hertfordshire Constabulary spokesman added: “Due to the number of units stolen a large vehicle would have been needed to remove the items. We are appealing for witnesses that may have seen the vehicle drive out of Glenhaven Avenue and along Shenley Road at any time between 7.00pm on Saturday, 16 August and 10.00am on Sunday, 17 August.”
