Lego builds future for Radlett autistic centre

Comments (0)One of the nation's best-loved toys is marking its 50th anniversary with a unique celebrity event to raise funds for a Radlett charity.
To celebrate the half-centenary of Lego's birth, celebrities and politicians will be selling their personal creations on eBay.
All proceeds will go towards upgrading a playground at the National Autistic Society's (NAS) Radlett Lodge School, in Harper Lane.
The nine sculptures range from a miniature Schnauzer to a model of the Twin Towers.
Pop group Right Said Fred made a guitar, while singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald constructed a version of Nightmare on Elm Street character Freddy Krueger.
Fashion designer Sir Paul Smith designed a rabbit and Liberal Democrat deputy leader Vince Cable recreated the Bank of England.
Trevor Anderton, NAS director of fundraising, said: "Whilst autism is a serious, lifelong and disabling condition, the right support at the right time can make an enormous difference to people's lives."
