A certain Royal figure opened a new building for a charity that provides free legal advice to people.

Anne, Princess Royal, opened the new South Oxhey Citizens Advice Bureau yesterday at the Old Police Station, in Oxhey Drive.

Karen Judge Lawson from South Oxhey said the Princess Royal arrived at the new premises at 11.35am.

District councillor, Stephen Cox, said: “The Citizens Advice Bureau provides a vital service, not just to South Oxhey, but the surrounding area too.

“I’m pleased that a suitable location was found after they had to move out of their former premises in Bridlington Road because of the impending redevelopment there.”

Councillor Sara Bedford, leader of Three Rivers District Council, said: “I am delighted to see the Citizens Advice Bureau settled in its new home.

After the bureau decided not to take premises in the new development, Three Rivers provided them with a resettlement grant to help the move.

“Three Rivers gives a larger annual grant to its Citizens Advice Bureau than any other council in Hertfordshire and, as one of the smaller councils in Hertfordshire, hugely more on a per capita basis.

"The CAB work hard and achieve so much on behalf of some of our more disadvantaged residents and we are proud to support them”.
