A football club has unveiled its new grass pitch which will make match postponements a thing of the past.

Borehamwood Youth FC, based in Aycliffe Road, have risen to the top of the table with their new and improved pitch which will now be able to meet the demands of all its teams.

The club, who play in the Watford and Herts West League, now boats safe and well drained pitches and work was undertaken to address the poor drainage system which left the pitches prone to waterlogging.

The improvement work was made possible after it was awarded a grant of £99,702 from the Premier League and the Football Association’s facilities fund, which is delivered by the Football Foundation, a charity which develops grassroots sports facilities across the UK.

Borehamwood Youth FC worked alongside Hertfordshire FA and the Football Foundation to make the dream a reality.

Borehamwood Times:

Aaron McIntosh, chairman of Borehamwood Youth FC, said: “The grant for the work which has been completed at our club has made a tremendous difference to the kids’ safety and frequency that they can now play, we would like to thank the Football Foundation for the grant."

Faye White, former Arsenal and England defender, who played many times at Meadow Park in the town added: “I’m sure the improved grass pitches at Borehamwood Youth FC will play a huge role in helping to grow the club.

“Being a parent myself, I think it is great to know that my two sons and the next generation of children will have better facilities available to them if they want to play football. I’m actually quite envious of some of the fantastic pitches that youngsters get to play on nowadays.”
