A cordon had to be put in place after reports a World War Two shell had been found in a garden.

Bomb disposal officers descended on Balmoral Drive in Borehamwood after police were initially called at 2.41pm yesterday afternoon (Friday).

When the experts arrived, they advised police officers to set up a cordon.

Explosive Ordinance Disposal experts (EOD) inspected the object found in the garden but decided there was no need for a controlled explosion and the object was taken away.

The police cordon was lifted at 6.20pm.
