Borehamwood high street was at a standstill after a car crashed into a traffic island.
Police shut the high street westbound at around 4pm today because of the incident which happened at the junction of Drayton Road and Shenley Road.
A male driver sustained minor injuries.
The road has since reopened.
A large number of police officers and at least one fire engine was called to the scene.
The 308 bus and Uno buses were forced to divert via Brook Road, Gateshead Road, and Theobald Street.
There were long queues on Theobald Street towards the train station.
Due to an RTC in Shenley Road Borehamwood, route 306 is currently being diverted in both directions via Brook Road, Gateshead Road and Theobald Street between the Station and Tesco.
