A support group is being set up in Borehamwood for carers.

The hub is the 14th group to be set up through Carers in Hertfordshire's Caring Communities Project.

Carers in Hertfordshire is a charity that provides a service for unpaid carers.

At an event at 96 Shenley Road, carers enjoyed a yoga and relaxation session led by yoga teacher Jacqui Robinson. 14 people registered for a Carers' Passport Discount Card that will give them access to savings in shops, restaurants, and other businesses.

Alex Daar, projects officer at Carers in Hertfordshire, said: β€œIt was great to see so many people at this event. Carers told me they are really looking forward to meeting up with other carers locally. We are now looking into a venue and when to hold the meetings and plan to hold the first regularly monthly meeting before mid-July."

Barbara, who cares for a couple of family members with various health conditions, said: β€œI find the support offered by Carers in Hertfordshire invaluable and if I need advice there is someone to talk to. The event was useful and I found out about the Carers Breaks service. It will be good to have a local support group as you can pick up tips and information by being amongst other carers.”
