Patients could soon have to pay to park when visiting a doctor’s surgery.

People visiting Fairbrook Medical Centre can currently leave their cars in the car park, in between Wellswood Pharmacy and the medical centre, which Wellswood have a right of access to.

But flats are now due to be built within the pharmacy – and the car park appears to now be earmarked for residential use.

The medical centre has advised in a notice in its surgery that its visitors might have to use the pay and display car park in Brook Road from May 1 2018.

It costs 90p to park up to an hour and £1.70 for two hours.

Parking will still be available in the original car park but they will be on a first come first served basis. The number of spaces will be reduced from what they are now.

Two disabled spaces for blue badge holders will also still be available in the car park which is currently used jointly by visitors to the pharmacy and surgery.

In October 2016, Wellswood was granted permission to convert some of the building into four apartments.
