Police were called after an eight-year-old pupil took a penknife into his primary school.

Police have confirmed they were contacted on March 16 about a pupil who had bought the weapon into Little Reddings Primary School in Bushey.

Allegations had been made that the child threatened three fellow children but police have established that no direct threats were made in the incident which happened on March 15.

The penknife has been seized.

Borehamwood Times:

Officers from the intervention team have spoken to school staff and the child and parents are expected to be given words of advice about the incident.

As the child is under the age of criminal responsibility, no charges will be bought but safeguarding referrals have been made.

One parent said she believed the academy’s policy did not represent the severity of the incident.

According to the school’s child behavioural policy, Simply Behave, the biggest consequence is isolation and a day with the senior leadership team.

There were also reports that some parents earlier this week refused to take their children to school because of how the school dealt with the issue.

Little Reddings Primary School is part of a multi-academy trust in Bushey.

Bushey St James Trust is made up of three academy schools; Bushey Meads, Little Reddings, and Hartsbourne Primary School.

Bushey St James Trust has been contacted.
