Young pupils at a school have completed a clean sweep at a county chess championships.

Children at Radlett Preparatory School in Watling Street came out on top in three leagues this month across Hertfordshire.

The school entered three teams into the Hertfordshire Chess Championship, playing in the training league, minor league, and major league over six rounds.

The winners were presented with a silver trophy.

Jenny Warren, Vice Principal of Radlett Prep, who attended the final round of the tournament said: “I was impressed by the commitment and focus shown by all the children who took part and very proud of the way they represented the school.

"Our grateful thanks are due to Mr Kumar who takes the chess club and to our dedicated parents who have supported the children throughout the year and at this tournament.”
