People marked the ten year anniversary of International Wheelchair Day (IWD) with a demonstration of revolutionary chairs.
IWD is an opportunity to celebrate the positive impact a wheelchair has on people’s lives and is recognised globally on March 1.
On Saturday, a group spent the day at a snowy Aldenham Country Park testing the Treknetic wheelchair; an award-winning design which allows users to travel across all kinds of terrain and weather.
Steve Wilkinson, who launched IWD, said: “It's a day of celebration for the freedom a wheelchair gives me and millions of others throughout the world. I would be unable to get out and about and have the quality of life I have if it wasn't for my wheelchair.
“It's a day of reflection about the fact that the world isn't as "wheelchair friendly" as it could be.”
