A housing association has promised to improve the care of its tenants.

Oliver Dowden, MP for Hertsmere, met with Clarion Housing regional bosses; previously Affinity Sutton, following complaints about service repair delays and anti-social behaviour.

He met Anne Brighton, head of eastern operations for Clarion, at their Borehamwood offices in a meeting on January 26 to discuss the housing association's service and care for its tenants.

Mr Dowden said: "I know lots of people are sick and tired with the performance of Clarion Housing and many residents have been in contact with me to complain. That’s why I wanted to meet face to face to raise these concerns.

"At the meeting we covered a number of issues, including problems around anti-social behaviour, delays to repairs and the need for better customer service. I was glad that they listened to these points and assured me that they are making improvements.

"We agreed to stay in close contact and as Hertsmere’s MP, I willcontinue to make sure that residents’ voices are heard by those responsible for vital local services."

Mrs Brighton said: "We welcomed the opportunity to meet with Mr Dowden to update him on the action we had taken to address residents’ concerns in his constituency. Fortunately they were low in number but we take each and every complaint very seriously and continuously monitor ways we can improve.

"We look forward to continuing our good working relationship with Mr Dowden, working together for the residents of Hertsmere."

Circle Housing merged with Affinity Sutton to form Clarion Housing. The housing association manages 125,000 homes across 170 local authorities.
