A defibrillator will be available at a country park after councillors clubbed together hundreds of pounds of their own money.
Staff at Aldenham Country Park will be trained how to use the life-saving equipment, which is performed on a person who is suffering a cardiac arrest.
They are designed to deliver a dose of electric current to a person whose heart has stopped.
Funding was awarded through the council’s ward improvement initiative scheme.
Councillors Morris Bright, Harvey Cohen, and Charles Goldstein also contributed £650 between them.
There are now 65 defibrillators in the area, thanks to fundraising from the Elstree and Borehamwood Community Charity.
Cllr Morris Bright, leader of the council said: “Defibrillators are designed to be simple and safe to use. Having one nearby could make the difference between life and death.
“I’m delighted to be able to support this purchase for the park and its weekly parkruns; events that have proved a huge success in promoting health, wellbeing and community spirit."
