A restaurant may become the best curry place in the London suburbs after being shortlisted for an industry.

Bayleaf in High Road, Whetstone, has been shortlisted for the Best in London Suburbs at the British Curry Awards, which will be hosted by Enam Ali MBE at a glamorous ceremony at The Battersea Evolution on November 27.

The restaurant opened three years ago, taking inspiration from the successful takeaway business of the same name operating down the road since 1995.

Founder Tofozzul Miah said: "It’s not only a great surprise but one which is enormously gratifying.

"Being recognised by our industry’s top awards is a validation of both how loyal Bayleaf’s customers are along with all the hard work my team and put into making this restaurant what it is.

"I’m very proud and immensely chuffed."

Some of the restaurants top dishes include momo, a Nepalese street food delicacy of chicken dumplings, twice-cooked quail and patrani machli, which is marinated cod fillet steamed and served in banana leaf.
