The shortage of health facilities in the area was under target at a recent meeting.

MP for Hertsmere Oliver Dowden met up with representatives from Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) to discuss the future of health services in Borehamwood.

At the meeting with CCG Chairman Dr Nicolas Small and care programme director David Evans the focus of the discussion was particularly on GP facilities in the town.

As developments for the area are in discussion, the CCG confirmed plans to make a new healthcare hub including GP facilities in the next few years.

Mr Dowden said: “I know that many people in Borehamwood are concerned about the pressure on GP practices, particularly as the town continues to expand. Securing better facilities in the area is a priority for me as your MP.

“I was pleased to hear from them about the CCG’s plans for developing a new healthcare hub in the town that will include GP facilities within the next few years.

“In addition they are examining new measures to increase the capacity of our local health services by encouraging existing surgeries to work together, sharing resources and expertise.

“We also discussed more generally the provision of health services in our community and I was encouraged to hear that the CCG will be working closely with Hertsmere Borough Council as the Local Plan is updated.

“This is crucial in order to ensure we have the vital local infrastructure to go with any new development.

“I will be continuing to monitor these issues in my role as Hertsmere’s MP and look forward to working with the CCG in the months and years ahead.”
