A MUSICAL theatre group have been named international champions at the annual Gilbert & Sullivan Festival.
The Abbots Langley Gilbert & Sullivan Society were a last minute inclusion to the festival, and performed their rendition of The Gondoliers.
They scooped eight awards at the event in Harrogate, including international champions for 2017, best costumes, best male performer and best traditional opera.
The group also won best supporting actress, best concerted item, best director and best male voice.
Linda Dyne, the director, said she was confident the performance was worthy of a nomination - but nobody expected the success they achieved.
Their next production will be Tell me on a Sunday, October 1 at the Henderson Hub, Abbots Langley and then they return to the Watford Palace in January with The Sorcerer.
