A college will be opening its doors to community groups to make use of its facilities.

Christ's College in East End Road, Finchley, will be opening up its performing arts and sports facilities to the general public and community groups in the evening, school holidays and on weekends.

Local groups can hire the 3G pitch, sports hall, gymnasium and main hall for regular classes or ad hoc events, and is being managed by School Lettings Solutions (SLS).

Trisha Clark, business manager at Christ’s College, said: "We’re really excited to be opening up the college to the wider community.

"We’re proud of the facilities we offer our students, such as our 3G pitch and sports hall, and it makes sense to us that they are available to use during evenings and weekends as well."

The new lettings system should allow the school to raise vital income in the face of cuts from the government.

Ms Clark added: "We’ve already got some great partners signed up to use our facilities, such as the Cambridge Dancers Club and the TISKA Cambridge Shotokan Karate group, and we’re looking forward to getting more on board.

"This can only be a positive thing for our students and people in the area."
