A golfing fundraiser had success off to a tee at a fundraising event for charity.

The Hertsmere Mencap Annual Golf Day raised a record amount of money at the Hendon Golf Club on Friday, September 8.

73 players took part in the fundraiser and now £20,000 will go towards funding activities for learning disabled members of the group.

Guests were treated to an exhibition of golf shots by professional trick shot artist Jeremy Dale.

There was a charity auction headed by Hertsmere Borough Council leader Morris Bright, and the day was sponsored by Pelicans Manufacturing and Grower Freeman.

Hertsmere Mencap chairman Paul Moser said: “It was a very good day, the rain did not help of course. The conditions were terrible but it did not stop play.

The money will go towards activities for disabled people such as arts and crafts, drama and football.

We do not receive donations from local authorities so without these donations we would not be able to cope.”
