A quiz night held by a mother who had a brain tumour, in honour of her son's friend, raised £1,000 for research.

The quiz night at Ewen Hall in Wood Street, Barnet, on September 9, was held in memory of Will Moores, a friend of Vicki Harris' son Benedict, who sadly died of a brain tumour aged 18 in February 2014.

Ms Harris, who organised the event along with two others, was also diagnosed with a 3cm x 3cm tumour in her frontal lobe, which was removed entirely in June 2016.

She turned her hand to fundraising after her experience and, with the help from Benedict as the quizmaster, was able to raise £1,000 for Brain Tumour Research.

She said: "My friends, and the community at large in High Barnet and further afield, have been fantastic since my diagnosis, rallying round to help in all sorts of ways.

"The turnout for the quiz was brilliant, and another demonstration of the strength of our community. I am endlessly grateful to everyone for their support."

Teams included representatives from Barnet Rotary, the Barnet Guild of Artists and U3A, each descending on Ewen Hall in Wood Street, Barnet, to test their general knowledge all in the name of charity.
