Thieves stole tools worth thousands of pounds from five vans in the space of less than three hours.

The tools were all taken from Ford Transit vans in Borehamwood between 12.30am and 3am on Thursday.

Two of the vans were parked in Featherstone Gardens, while the other three were in Tempsford Avenue, Wansford Park and Ashley Drive.

Detective Constable Andy Paveley is investigating. He said: “Tools worth thousands of pounds were taken from inside these vans, which will have a huge impact on the owners and their livelihoods.

“I am appealing for anyone who saw two men acting suspiciously in the areas mentioned to get in touch as you may have information that could assist our investigation.

“I would also like to remind people to where possible remove their tools from vans overnight. If this is not possible please consider fitting a tool safe and ensure it is secured with good quality locks. Fit additional external locks to van doors and consider parking your van close to a hedge or wall in order to restrict access for anyone trying to get into your vehicle.

“There is further crime prevention advice on our website at www.herts.police.uk.”

The thieves are described as two white men, both of skinny build and around 25 years old. They were both wearing hoodies with the hoods up.

Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Paveley via the Hertfordshire Constabulary non-emergency number 101 or report information online at www.contacthertspolice.uk/Report.
