Charities have teamed up to fight the stigma attached to dementia over a month.

The Fremantle Trust, a north London care provider, is joining forces with Dementia Club UK, founded by Cllr Lisa Rutter, to raise awareness globally for dementia and challenge the stigma associated with the condition during the World Alzheimer's Month of September.

Cllr Rutter said: "Dementia Club UK is delighted to be in partnership with The Fremantle Trust.

"We look forward to working together to provide people with the best advice and information to help them with any challenging problems."

Anne Duggan, of The Fremantle Trust, added it was important to forge "valuable partnerships" to help provide specialist support for those with dementia and their families.

The club is based in six venues across the borough of Barnet and Borehamwood.
