Business owners will be given the chance to make sure the food they sell really is five-star.

Small and medium food and catering companies will be given the chance to boost their hygiene ratings with expert advice from Hertsmere Borough Council.

An Environmental Health Officer will be running two half-day workshops in the Civic Offices in Elstree Way, Borehamwood, about the Food Safety Hygiene Ratings Scheme on Tuesday, September 26.

The first workshop will cover training and supervising staff cleanliness and disinfection of premises, temperature control, structure and maintenance, the importance of record-keeping and maintaining food safety management systems from 9.30pm to 12.30pm.

The second workshop will deal with allegations of food poisoning, and caterers will be advised how to investigate these claims, when to inform the local authority and the importance of communication, from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
