A meeting to discuss the potential closure of High Barnet police station is set to take place next month.

The Mayor of London released details of a proposed strategy on how to manage cuts to the Met Police, with a number of police stations across London potential casualties.

The strategy proposes ways to find a further £400million of savings required by 2020, extra to the £600million of savings made since 2010, with a key suggestion being to "close costly and underused police front counters".

The meeting will act as part of a consultation on the strategy which began in July and closes on October 6.

Borough Commander Simon Rose said: "We would welcome people’s views, either at the meeting or electronically via the MOPAC website after reading the reasons for the proposed action."

The meeting will take place on September 11 at Hendon Town Hall in The Burroughs Hendon, from 6.30pm. All members of the public are welcome to go along and give their views.
