While many criminals try to flee the police, one man was arrested while attempting to break into their station.

A year 38-year-old man from Borehamwood was arrested in the early hours of Monday, July 10 after he had broken into a secure area of the station.

The man allegedly got into the station after scaling a security fence and entering through a damaged door.

He was immediately challenged by police officers of Hertfordshire Constabulary and arrested immediately.

Following the episode he was released under investigation and no further action was taken against him following advice from the Crown Prosecution Service.

Chief Inspector for Hertsmere Steve O’Keeffe said: “The damaged door was awaiting repair and was fixed the day of the incident.

“This was of course an incident of concern however the man did not get far into the station building before he was stopped by officers and arrested.

“The station, which is an operational 24/7 police station, was secured that day and the building remains secure.”
