A bumper crop of students at schools in Chesham and Amersham passed with flying colours in this year’s A-Levels.

Helena Quainton, who attends Amersham School, secured phenomenal results; three As and one B grade. Luke Upton obtained two A* and two A grades.

Alanis Fitzgerald celebrated her ABB grades, and other students who were celebrating their results included Lucy Krogdahl, Matt Barker and Jack Pyatt.

Principal Sharon Jarrett commented: “At Amersham School we pride ourselves in securing the best possible results for each student, regardless of their starting point. We focus upon improving the life chances of every individual.

“I am so pleased that our students have been enabled to access a wide variety of university courses including Biomedical Science, English Literature and Politics, Criminology and Animation.

“I am proud of all my wonderful students – they are awesome. I am also indebted to our wonderful staff who always go above and beyond the call of duty to secure the highest possible outcomes.”

Dr Challoner’s High School pupils were also celebrating after another fantastic year.

Four girls achieved a full house of four A*s, including head girl Evie Vennix, who said: “All the hard work has paid off, I can’t believe it.”

Evie will go on to study French and German at Oxford University.

Head teacher Alan Roe said: “We are very proud of the well-deserved success that our girls are enjoying and we encourage them to continue to shine brightly and live life to the fullest.

“Thank you and congratulations also to our enormously hard-working and experienced staff.”

Students and staff at Chesham Grammar School also celebrated "excellent" results, with around 75 per cent of all entries resulting in A*-Bs, and more than 40 students achieving a "clean sweep" of A* and A grades.

One of the highest achieving students, Guy Moss, got four A*s in maths, further maths, physics and chemistry, and is going on to study maths at Warwick University.

Also heading to Warwick to study maths are Daniel Stretch, William Storey and Alex Cowden, all of whom achieved at least three A*s each.

Head boy Alex Smith was thrilled with his two A*s and an A.

He said: “I am delighted with my results and so grateful to CGS; I have had the best time here and the support from my teachers throughout has been amazing.”

Head teacher Annmarie McNaney said: “Overall, this was a wonderful year group.

“During their seven years at CGS, they have made a superb contribution to the life of the school, accomplishing much in sport, music and the arts.

“They have been excellent ambassadors and I am proud of what they have achieved academically. We congratulate them all and wish them well for the future.”
