A children’s hospice has been celebrating after receiving a takeaway worth nearly £100,000 from a supportive fast-food restaurant.

KFC’s Add Hope Foundation raised £95,638 for the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice through schemes run across 144 London branches.

Staff at the fast-food joints were asked to promote collection boxes, special meal deals with a percentage donated to charity and scratch-card sales and.

This organisation and the Childhood Trust, which reaches out to vulnerable children in London were specifically chosen by KFC employees to support in their charity drive.

The charity provides care for children with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses from Hertsmere, central and north London.

Noah’s Ark’s Director of Income Generation and Communications, Alison Goodman said: “It is great when a big brand like KFC supports us.

“As a household name and a familiar sight on every High Street, it is heart-warming to hear that KFC has joined the Noah’s Ark family and put all this effort in to help our vulnerable children and their families.”

“All the children we help have life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses and Noah’s Ark aims to be there every step of the way to offer help, advice, play and music therapy, sibling and parental support. This KFC gift will make a huge difference and help us reach more families who need us.”

Most of the families who receive support from the hospice rely on donations as only 10 per cent of funding comes from statutory sources.

KFC Area Coach, Shane Field said: “The amount raised by the team has been amazing, we are so proud to be able to help the work of a charity doing such vital work helping families across London and the Hertsmere area.

“The KFC Add Hope Foundation gives staff the chance to really get involved in some great work in their community.”
