A beloved restaurant is closing after 43 years of service.

Chix Chox in High Road, Finchley, is closing down after many years serving good-value lunches, dinners and dessert to the people of north Finchley.

Cafe Buzz owner Helen Michael said it was "tragic" to see the restaurant go.

She said: "Anyone whose been in and around Finchley for any length of time will know they are an institution.

"With Tally Ho discount closing and now Chix Chox, that's the two longest standing independents on the High Road.

"It's a sad day."

Cafe Buzz is now the longest standing independent cafe or store on the High Road at 13 years.

Ms Michael added: "Use it or lose it - nobody wants a homogenized High Street."

A statement from the Chix Chox website thanked the community for more than 43 years of loyal support.
The statement read: "It hasn't been easy making this decision but we felt it was the right time for the Chix Chox family to take a break for a while.

"The customers that we have served, and let me tell you there have been a few, have been wonderful.

"We have been blown away by your comments over the past few days and now understand we must of done a decent job.

"Without you Chix Chox restaurant would never have been as successful."

The restaurant closes as its owner retires this year, but their statement said "never say never" about seeing the restaurant reopen in the future.
